Arrest after man stabbed in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Officers were called to Silverdale Road at 7.05am today (Thursday 7 May) following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Staffordshire Police explained that the victim was taken to hospital with "minor injuries".

A 25-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are treating this as an isolated incident and we understand the injured man and the man arrested are known to each other.

"We are appealing for anyone with any information that might help our investigation to contact us. Call 101, quoting incident 92 of 7 May, or use Live Chat on our website.
