Another drive-thru restaurant is planned for vacant land in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.

The latest application submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council seeks permission for a new facility near land where planning consent was recently granted for a Burger King branch.

There are also branches of KFC and Costa close to the site off King Street and City Road. But the identity of the proposed new drive-thru has not been revealed.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said: "Originally the site was a colliery and occupied for many years by the various guises of the Coal Board. Since the site was vacated by the coal board around the mid-80s it has had various industrial uses and was acquired by the current owners Staffs Fitness in 2017.

Plans for a brand-new Burger King restaurant off King Street, Fenton, were approved last year (Staffs Fitness Ltd).

"The site is currently vacant with no recent planning history. Immediately to the north of the site is a vacant site which on the 10th November 2023 obtained planning permission for a drive thru Burger King.

"Given the high levels of vehicles which pass the site from the A50 into the city centre this is a logical location for this type of unit. Given that there are other drive thru offers immediately adjacent to the site, this use sits comfortably amongst them and adds to the redevelopment of this prominent junction position."
