A local charity will run its 47th annual motorcycle toy run in Stoke-on-Trent next weekend.

The annual Toy Run, organised by the Star Bikers Charity, will take place on Sunday 30 November marking the 47th run since it began in 1977.

The event, which has attracted over 1.5k bikers in previous years, raises money and collects donations of unwrapped toys to help families and children in the local area.

Jamie Porter, the PR and Digital Media Coordinator for the Star Bikers, said: "The Star Bikers Charity has been going for almost 50 years! We're currently on our 47th Toy Run and like last year, we need the community of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire like never before.

"Every donation matters, no matter how small. All of our donations received, go to local families in the area, local authorities such as Social Services, children's support teams and local charities.

"All money raised either at the Toy Run itself, or via our website, is spent on local charities, groups, individuals so every penny helps."

Spectators are welcome and encouraged throughout the route, which begins at The bet365 Stadium and travels around the city before ending at Kings Hall, Stoke.

Donations can be offered throughout the route, where riders will stop to collect them.

The parade will be followed by a celebration at Kings Hall with live entertainment from Stoke-based band Crosshair and DJ Bloke, along with local food and activities.

Jamie added: "My favourite part of the Run, when I get chance to go out on it, is seeing our spectators on the road side along the route.

"Seeing them clap, cheer, shout, smile and hold out bags with donations, is just something that I can't describe - you have to experience it to understand.

"When I used to ride a motorbike, my favourite part was high-fiving the kids as we rode past.

"Requests for our support increase year on year, so any help, no matter how big or small, will help us. "

The Toy Run will start at The bet365 Stadium at 11:00am, with riders encouraged to arrive by 10:15am for registration.

There is a suggested donation of £2 per rider, along with a new unwrapped gift.

Hot food and drinks will be available to purchase from Stoke City FC before the run begins.
