20-year-old man dies in road traffic collision in Stoke-on-Trent

A 20-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision last night (27 April) in Stoke-on-Trent.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Police were called to Cellarhead Road, Cellarhead at 9.23pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews discovered a car that had overturned and come to rest on its roof.

"One man from the car was already receiving medical attention from an off-duty police officer.

"However, sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

"A second patient, also a man, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital."

Ambulances, police officers and firefighters all attended the scene last night (West Midlands Ambulance Service).

The 20-year-old man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this time.

A 21-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested for traffic-related offences and he remains in police custody while inquiries continue. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle beforehand or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with police. 

Officers are particularly keen to trace anyone who saw a male walking away from the collision scene.
