Location - London (Remote)

I'm working on behalf of a client in the energy and building optimisation space to recruit a Senior Optimisation Specialist. This is a hands-on, technically focused role for someone with advanced skills in BMS and software engineering, who is passionate about enhancing energy performance across a variety of building types.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting clients both remotely and on-site, implementing and optimising building control software, delivering energy-saving strategies, and supporting decarbonisation goals. This role sits within a high-performing team committed to delivering real-world impact through smart, sustainable building solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for BMS software, ensuring correct operation and resolving system issues
  • Implement and configure software modifications based on Description of Operations and control strategies
  • Collaborate with client engineering teams to deliver training and implement solutions that improve efficiency and system performance
  • Work with optimisation engineers to test and deploy software strategies on-site, ensuring systems operate as intended
  • Manage software access, licensing, and security protocols in line with internal cyber standards
  • Conduct HVAC/BMS energy optimisation surveys, reviewing control setups, graphics, and plant performance
  • Produce detailed survey reports with proposed technical interventions, ROI estimates, and optimisation strategies
  • Perform maintenance activities on sensors, control panels, software interfaces, BMS controllers, and other system hardware
  • Support occasional reactive callouts to resolve BMS/HVAC-related issues
  • Always maintain awareness of Health & Safety standards on-site; review RAMS and conduct POWRAs as needed
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks before and during site visits, taking action if safety standards are not met

What You'll Bring

  • HNC/ONC or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of BMS systems such as Trend, Tridium, Siemens and/or Cylon
  • Proven experience in BEMS service or project roles, with a focus on energy efficiency and controls optimisation
  • CSCS Gold card holder
  • Skilled in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Degree in Building Services (desirable, not essential)
  • Strong appreciation of site operations and stakeholder expectations
  • Solution-focused mindset with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges
  • Excellent communication skills - able to build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude and a passion for driving sustainable outcomes
  • High attention to detail and personal accountability
  • UK Driving Licence and full eligibility to work in the UK
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous improvement
