Grizzled and having inflicted and endured much bloodshed, Robin Hood enters a battle in which the odds are very much against him and he does not expect to survive. But he does…barely, and ends up in a remote abbey in the care of a kindly nun, where he takes on the role of protective father figure to an orphaned young girl.

Michael Sarnoski's film adapts the 17th century folk ballad, Robin Hood's Death, that sees Robin contemplating his violent past and looking for salvation.

Hugh Jackman is terrific as Robin, alongside Jodie Comer and Bill Skarsgård in this radical and brutal reimagining of the Robin Hood tale in which he's anything but a hero.
