Six candidates will contest a district council by-election.

Labour councillor Dylan Pascall resigned his Cheddleton seat on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council last month, due to his moving out of the area.

A by-election for the vacant seat will take place on Thursday 12 November.

Six candidates have been nominated to contest the election: Rob Bateman (Conservatives), Su Beardmore (Reform UK), Matthew Frith (Green Party), Karen Pickering (Restore Britain), Sue Rogers and Martin Sadler (Labour).

The district council is currently led by a minority Labour administration. There are 19 Labour councillors, 21 Conservatives, 10 independents, two Green councillors, one Reform, one Lib Dem and one non-aligned councillor.

Cheddleton ward is represented by two other councillors, both Conservatives.

Applications to register to vote in time for the by-election must reach the electoral registration officer by midnight on Tuesday, 27 October.
