After a newly arranged marriage, an oddball couple find themselves shoved together in a small Mumbai shack with paper-thin walls. It seems evident that perhaps they have always been awkward and alone, but now they are awkward and alone-together.
Unpredictable and misanthropic, Uma does her best to cope with the heat, her total lack of domestic skills, nosy neighbours and her bumbling spouse. A challenging enough predicament, but nothing in comparison to the nocturnal world of Mumbai and Uma's own strange impulses.
Karan Kandhari directs a genre-bending, darkly funny feminist fable that is wonderfully unpredictable, complete with an eclectic and irresistible soundtrack.
