Hokum is an atmospheric gothic horror from writer-director Damian McCarthy, centred on Adam Scott as Ohm Bauman, an American author who retreats to a remote Irish hotel to finish his book and scatter his parents' ashes. Instead, Ohm is pulled into a haunting world of ghosts and unsettling local lore, all centred around a locked honeymoon suite that refuses to stay quiet.
Blending folklore, grief and psychological unease into a lean, eerie chamber piece, Hokum builds its terror through atmosphere rather than jump scares. Praised for its creeping tension and Scott's grounded, unnerving performance, this is a chilling, slow-burn descent into the supernatural that will linger in your mind long after the credits have finished rolling.
