Woman dies following road traffic collision in Cheadle

A woman has sadly died following a road traffic collision in Cheadle, Staffordshire, yesterday.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to Boundary Road, Cheadle, at 4.32pm yesterday (21 July).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "When ambulance staff arrived on scene, they found a serious collision involving three cars with one passenger, a woman, receiving CPR by bystanders.

"The team of ambulance staff worked together to continue emergency care but sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed deceased on scene.

"Two men and a second woman who were involved in the collision were all assessed on scene. All three sustained non-serious injuries and were discharged on scene."

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police added: "Despite the efforts of emergency services, a passenger in the Ford Fiesta, a woman in her 70s, sadly died at the scene.

 "Two men and a second woman involved in the collision sustained non-serious injuries and stayed at the scene to help us with our enquiries."

 Sergeant Richard Moors, from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Collision Investigation Unit (CIU), said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has lost her life. Specially-trained officers are supporting them at this traumatic time.

"An investigation to establish the cause of the collision is underway."
