Woman critically injured following road traffic collision near Newcastle

Paramedics were called to High Street, Knutton, at 10.30pm last night (West Midlands Ambulance Service).

A woman has been critically injured following a road traffic collision near Newcastle-under-Lyme last night (25 September).

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 10.30pm to High Street in Knutton. An ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, critical care paramedic, two BASICS emergency doctors and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman says: "On arrival, crews found one car had come off the road.

"A woman, who was a passenger, was in a critical condition.

The woman was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for emergency care (SWNS).

"Fire colleagues assisted with removing her from the vehicle and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life-support and trauma care.

"Once her condition was stabilised, she was conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital with MERIT travelling on board for continued emergency care.

"The driver and a second passenger from the car were not injured."
