Vacant sandwich shop in Stoke-on-Trent could become new takeaway
A vacant sandwich shop in Stoke-on-Trent could become a new Afro-Caribbean takeaway, if plans are approved by the city council.
Mr Basharat has submitted a planning application for 72 Victoria Road, Fenton, formally home to Butties to Go.
The application is for the "change of use of ground floor to hot food takeaway including the installation of extraction flue to rear elevation".
If approved, the new takeaway would operate seven days a week and employ three members of staff.
A Planning Statement reveals that the applicant intends to open "a food business which will sell a variety of Afro-Caribbean inspired foods including Jerk Chicken, Brown Stew Beef, Burgers, Lamb Chops, Wings, Rice, Mash, Dumplings etc.
"Previously this commercial unit has been used as a sandwich shop that sold both hot and cold foods including sandwiches, baguettes and traditional English breakfast. The existing unit did have an extraction system installed but this is due to be upgraded to ensure the correct level of odour/noise control is provided.
"The business opening hours intended are 12:30pm-11.00pm 7 days a week and would be within the allocated hours for a typical unit along this parade of shops. However should trade be slightly quieter on certain days then the client may decide to open/close to suit at reduced hours."
A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months; view the full application here.
