At around 7pm on Thursday (16 February), Staffordshire Police were called to Parliament Square in Hanley after two teenagers robbed another youth.

Police say that one of the boys was wearing a balaclava and demanded the victim's belongings. The boy handed over his bag before the offenders fled the area on foot.

A short time later, police found the stolen bag and balaclava after searching a boy in Blurton.

The two boys, aged 15 and 17 from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in custody while inquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Scott McGrath, from the Stoke North local policing team, said: "Local officers were quick to act and have worked hard to recover the belongings of the victim.

"Those who seek to steal in our city, whether that be from people, homes or businesses will be dealt with robustly by a team who are passionate about protecting the public and bringing those responsible to justice."
