Two Newcastle-under-Lyme men have been jailed after drugs worth up to £775,000 were seized.

Jake Dubiel, 28, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, was found to be selling large amount of cocaine and cannabis to Adrian Stoker, 61, also of Newcastle-under-Lyme, who was acting as a courier himself.

Detective Superintendent Dan Ison, from the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), said: "By working proactively to act on intelligence, we've been able to take nearly a million-pounds-worth of drugs off our streets and out of the hands of organised criminals exploiting local people for profit.

"I know that lots of people living and working in Staffordshire are concerned about drug dealing and organised crime in their communities.

"That's why we're continuing our relentless pursuit of the groups and gangs pedalling these harmful and highly addictive substances on our streets."

It comes after Dubiel was stopped by officers when he was driving an Audi in February this year.

The police force said he tried to put the car in reverse but was stopped when officers smashed the window and handcuffed him.

When officers searched a JD Sports bag on the passenger seat, they found two one-kilo bricks of cocaine.

Two mobile phones were also seized and sent for examination.

Staffordshire Police said Stoker, who was stopped a short distance from the car, had a small amount of drugs and £21,000 in cash on him.

The police force says this roughly amounted to the street value of one-kilo brick of cocaine.

Dubiel's home was then searched and officers found cannabis and more cash.

A key was also found in Dubiel's car when he was arrested, which was used to open an industrial container in the area.

A safe was found inside the unit containing a further two one-kilo bricks of cocaine and more cannabis.

Officers also found more cannabis and cash when Stoker's home was searched.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "The collective street value of the cocaine seized in this investigation is estimated between £480,000 to £600,000. The collective street value of the cannabis seized is estimated between £113,000 to £175,000."
