Tunstall man jailed for three years after grooming teenage girl

A man from Tunstall who groomed a teenage girl in a nearby town has been jailed for three years.

The 23-year-old, of Andrew Mulligan Close, Tunstall, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child.

The court heard Rahman had been talking to the teenage girl on Snapchat before arranging to meet on Monday 23 January in Congleton.

At approximately 8.10am, Rahman collected the girl in his car and drove to a country lane before stopping the car and sexually assaulting her.

He then drove the victim back to Congleton and dropped her off near a local school.

Rahman was located after footage from a Ring doorbell helped identify the car he was driving.

He was arrested the same day at his place of work.

Rahman, of Andrew Mulligan Close in Tunstall, sexually assaulted the girl in Congleton (Google).

During interview, he admitted talking to the girl on Snapchat but initially denied any sexual contact with the victim, saying he had picked her up and then dropped her off at school.

He later pleaded guilty.

As well as a three-year custodial sentence, Rahman must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and is subject to a restraining order.
