Another bank is set to close in Stoke-on-Trent this week as TSB will be shutting its doors in Longton.

TSB, based on Market Street, is just one of 36 branches closing across the country, with the Longton branch closing tomorrow (11 September).

TSB analysed statistics from the Longton branch and found that only 5 per cent of personal customers and 6 per cent of business customers use the bank regularly.

A Branch Review published by TSB states: "The way customers bank with us is changing. Over 95% of transactions are now being made using mobile, online and other ways to bank, instead of in our branches. And more customers than ever are using our Video and Telephone Banking service.

"We remain committed to face-to-face services across the country, and over 90% of our customers are within a 20 minute drive to a branch."

A TSB spokesperson confirmed today: "We have not taken the decision to close our Longton branch lightly, but our customers are banking differently – with a clear shift to digital banking. Customer transactions at the branch have fallen by 51% between December 2019 and December 2023.

"There is also a Post Office or free to use ATM within a mile of the branch."

TSB's branch in Hanley is open 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 9am-1pm on Saturday.
