The Tories have been criticised for not stocking more Staffordshire pottery in their conference shop.

The LDRS visited the store, located near the entrance of the conference hall in Manchester, and found a range of mugs available.

Some of the crockery on sale comes from Bairstow Manor Collectables, and depicts former Tory prime ministers. These proudly wear a backstamp stating they were made in Stoke-on-Trent.

Others, meanwhile, have no backstamp and it's thought they are cheap imports.

The collection of 'Toby Jugs' includes Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher, John Major and David Cameron.

Some of the crockery has no backstamp and is is thought they are cheap imports (LDRS).

They're available for £28.95 each and are being sold near the entrance of this year's conference at Manchester Central.

As well as the Toby jugs, there are a ranch of simpler mugs, which have been decorated with party slogans and imagery.

One reads "You turn if you want to. The lady's not for turning," in a nod to Margaret Thatcher.

Another features the iconic former prime minister alongside the question 'milk for tea?'

There's also a mug which is embalmed with this year's conference slogan: "Long term decisions for a brighter future."

Many of the mugs depict former Tory prime ministers (LDRS).

The mugs are priced at £14.99 which makes them considerably cheaper than the Toby Jugs.

Nevertheless, Stoke-on-Trent Central MP Jo Gideon said she felt it was a missed opportunity.

She said: "It's a shame not all the pottery in party conference is from Stoke-on-Trent.

"It's great to see the collectibles are Stoke-on-Trent."
