Three people have been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police was called at 7.40pm on Thursday (23 July) to Ridgway Road, Shelton, following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, was found by members of the public, who contacted the emergency services.

Officers attended alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the man sadly died at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed and specially-trained officers will be supporting them."

Staffordshire Police has arrested a 25-year-old man and a 24 year old man both from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of murder.

A 17-year-boy, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has also been arrested with assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Fitzgerald, of the major investigations department, said: "We are working tirelessly to track down two other men we believe are involved.

"I would urge anyone who thinks they have information which could help us to get in touch.

"Thank you to everyone who has provided us with footage and information so far."
