Two more arrests have been made in a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police was called at 7.40pm on Thursday (23 July) to Ridgway Road, Shelton following reports that a man had been stabbed.

The victim, a man in his 40s, died at the scene.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "His next of kin continue to be supported by specially trained officers."

A 19-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 20-year-old man, also from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.

Staffordshire Police said they remain in custody for questioning, as well as a 25-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, who was arrested previously.

A 17-year-old boy, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, who was arrested has been bailed with conditions.

A 24-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been released with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Fitzgerald, of the Staffordshire Police major investigations department, said: "I would like to thank the community for their help and support with this investigation so far.
