Thousands of Royal Stafford assets are set to be auctioned off after it went into liquidation last month.

Auctioneer, John Pye, has begun the process of listing the assets for auction on behalf of the liquidators of RST Limited, which traded as Royal Stafford.

The Burslem-based pottery brand, which dates back to 1845, closed down in the first week of February with the loss of more than 80 jobs, after being hit by rising energy costs and falling orders.

Around 350,000 items of tableware including handmade ceramics, pottery and china, as well as unglazed stock and machinery will all be auctioned off on behalf of the liquidator.

Meanwhile, 100,000 pieces of finished tableware, including plates, mugs and bowls from the former pottery firm's factory shop have already been listed with a minimum bid of £25,000.

The auction dates for other assets are yet to be confirmed.

According to the John Pye website, other items set to be sent to auction include "machinery from the full production facility, including slip, pressing, decoration, glazing and firing.

"As well as unglazed biscuit stock and raw materials."
