The Stoke-on-Trent businesses awarded five-star hygiene rating this month

Here are the Stoke-on-Trent businesses awarded a five-star food hygiene rating in August.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, is aimed at helping people choose where to eat out or shop for food.
The FSA scheme is in partnership with local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

It gives businesses a rating from 0 to 5, which is displayed at their premises and online.
A five-star hygiene rating means 'hygiene standards are very good' for the business.

- Nibbles & Dreams, Bennett Precinct, Longton Exchange, was inspected on 12 August.

A food safety officer from Stoke-on-Trent City Council inspected the Stoke businesses to check that they were following food hygiene law so that the food was safe to eat.
At all inspections, the officer checked the following three elements including how hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored.
The physical condition of the business –including cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation, pest control and other facilities.
And how the business manages ways of keeping food safe, looking at processes, training and systems to ensure good hygiene is maintained. The officer can then assess the level of confidence in standards being maintained in the future.
The ten listed Stoke businesses were rated five-star based on all these checks.
