Ten men due in court after Stoke-on-Trent house fire in 2021

Ten men have been charged after a mother and daughter were badly burned in a house fire in Bentilee in 2021.

The fire happened on Beverley Drive on 16 December 2021 and a 31-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl were hospitalised with serious injuries. 

Now, Ali Abbas, 22, of Normacot, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, arson with intent to endanger life, arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, violent disorder and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

As well Haris Mahmood, 20, of HMYOI Brinsford, Shakil Uddin, 22, of Oldham, Muhammed Sufyaan-Shah, 24, of Rochdale, Tayyeb Majeed and Lukman Khan, both 23 and from Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, and Riyadh Iqbal, 22, of Normacot, Stoke-on-Trent, have all been charged with two counts of attempted murder, arson with intent to endanger life and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

Naveed Hussain, 31, of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with violent disorder and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. 

Kashif Ahmed, 24, of Abbey Hulton, Stoke-on-Trent, and Bilal Ahmed, 26 of Normacot, Stoke-on-Trent, have both been charged with violent disorder. 

The men are due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday 9 June.
