A Stoke-on-Trent pub will be temporarily closed while it undergoes a "six-figure investment".

The Weathervane, on Lysander Road, Meir, has revealed plans to showcase a brand-new look when it reopens following renovation works this month.

The Hungry Horse pub, part of pub company and brewer Greene King, will temporarily close from 9 February before reopening in March.

The exact date for the reopening has not yet been revealed but the Weathervane's hotel will remain open to customers throughout the renovation period.

The works will include improvements to the bar area and the addition of a new darts lane.

A spokesperson for Greene King said: "Planned refurbishment works include a new and improved look inside with an enhanced bar area and stylish new décor, lighting and furniture throughout, creating a warm and welcoming space for drinkers and diners to come together and spend time with loved ones.

"The pub will also be improving its sports offering with a new darts lane and upgraded TV screens and sound systems, ensuring the ultimate destination for sports fans to keep up with the latest live fixtures on Sky Sports and TNT Sports."
