A 'temporary' car park in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, could stay for another three years is permission is granted by the city council.
Block 4B at Smithfield is currently a temporary car park, but planning permission for this use expired in January 2024.
Developers have this week applied for permission for the 0.27 hectares site to retain its use for a further three years.
The site has space for 82 vehicles in total, comprising of 79 standard spaces and three accessible bays.
A covering letter, submitted as part of the application, states: "there is still demand for this car park as site investigation works are due to commence soon at the existing Hilton Garden Inn Hotel.
"This planning application does not seek to change the layout or appearance of the existing temporary car park. However, this application proposes additional details in relation to ANPR and CCTV cameras as well as signage.
"There are 10 proposed parking signs detailing that the car park is for use of hotel patrons only, information on how to comply with the car park conditions, and denoting parking spaces for blue badge holders only.
"These signs will be fixed to existing lamp posts and short posts. Such signage is not included at the existing temporary car park as it currently operates as a permit-holder car park.
"The proposed temporary car park will be monitored by ANPR cameras as opposed to permits."
A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
