A Stoke-on-Trent man who stalked a woman has been jailed for more than four years.
Thomas Brown, of Bucknall, was sentenced to four-years-and-three-months in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday 15 January after he admitted stalking causing serious alarm or distress.
Staffordshire Police explained that 35-year-old Brown started trying to contact the victim over the phone and on social media in April last year, sending numerous messages from different accounts and platforms to the woman.
When Staffordshire Police arrested him and brought him in for questioning, he answered no comment to all of the questions.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We secured the charges against Brown and brought him before the courts, where he eventually admitted to the offences."
As part of his sentencing, he was also served with an indefinite restraining order, preventing him from contacting the victim.
PC Benjamin Green, from the Stoke South local policing team, said: "Brown's actions have had a profound impact on the victim in this case.
"I'm pleased we've been able to secure this outcome for her and to prevent any further harm.
"I'd urge anyone who is a victim of this type of crime to report it to us immediately so that we can take action against those responsible and to safeguard those affected."
