Stoke-on-Trent man who raided tanning shop jailed

A man who raided a tanning shop in Fenton has been jailed for six years.
Joshua Guy, 35 from Stoke-on-Trent, broke into a shop on Brocksford Street in June this year and was found with a carrier bag full of tanning lotion and cash after a nearby resident raised the alarm.
When stopped by police, Guy lashed out and punched one of the officers and was later charged and pleaded guilty in court. There were also sightings of a man matching his description inside a property with a knife.
Guy has now been jailed for six years after admitting burglary, aggravated burglary and two charges of assaulting an emergency worker.
Detective Constable Lorraine Butler of CID, said: "Guy was a violent offender who was determined to garner all that he could from the premises when he broke in that night.
"I am pleased he has admitted his offending and that the judge saw fit to hand him a lengthy custodial sentence."
The officers who were attacked by Guy did not sustain serious injuries and remained on duty.
