A man who raped a woman in Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed for seven years.
Mark Bardell, 36, of Oakhill, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to seven years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday (Monday 1 December) after he was found guilty of the rape of a woman at an earlier hearing.
He was also put on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
In November 2021, Bardell made repeated advances on the survivor, who told him no on several occasions.
The survivor contacted police officers after the incident.
Staffordshire Police said: "Because of the strength of this evidence, and the bravery of the survivor, the jury deemed him guilty."
DC Jennie Holland, from our public protection unit, said: "I'd like to commend the survivor in this case for her tremendous bravery in coming forward and telling us about what happened.
"Through her courage, and the work of the officers and staff in Staffordshire, we've been able to put another dangerous sex offender behind bars."
