Stoke-on-Trent kick-starts Centenary year with four music concerts
The first four events have been announced as part of a year-long feast of arts, culture and fun to mark Stoke-on-Trent's Centenary this year.
2025 marks one hundred years since George V officially conferred city status and the year-long programme of events will celebrate Stoke-on-Trent and its people.
The first events to join the calendar are:
The Rise of the Fab Four: 25 January 2025, 7.30pm–11pm, King's Hall, Stoke
It's 62 years since The Beatles' historic gig at the King's Hall. Now, at the same venue, The Rise of the Fab Four will be a thrilling journey through the band's rise to the top of the charts from their humble beginnings at the Quarrymen to the peak of Beatlemania.
Tickets are £28 (inc.booking free) and are available from Music Mania in Hanley or musicmaniauk.com.
The City Music Service Stoke-on-Trent 100 Big Sing and Big Play (Big Sing 4 & 10 June, Big Play 11 June 2025, morning and afternoon sessions)
Children from schools across the city will come together next June to take part in a string of concerts at The Victoria Hall.
The Big Sing will feature concerts for primary pupils on 4 and 10 June, while the Big Play – for both primary and secondary students – will take place on 11 June.
The events will form part of the City Music Service concert series.
North Staffs Symphony Orchestra's Stoke-on-Trent Centenary Concert: 28 June 2025, 7.30pm–10pm, King's Hall, Stoke
Featuring British music written since Stoke-on-Trent became a city or that has significance to the city, the Stoke-on-Trent Centenary concert includes pieces dedicated to Lidice, the local Meath Baker family and the Spitfire.
Attendees will include the Mayor of Lidice and members of the Meath-Baker family.
Tickets are £15 each and information on how to purchase is available at nssoorchestra.co.uk
Soul-on-Trent: 5 April 2025, 7.30pm–2am, King's Hall, Stoke
Join famous DJs from the Torch and wider Northern Soul scene to celebrate a music movement that was part of the cultural heritage in the city, and is still thriving today.
Earlybird tickets are £12 until 31 December and £15 thereafter. Tickets are available at Music Mania in Hanley or at musicmaniauk.com.

Councillor Amjid Wazir, deputy leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "We've been planning our Centenary year events for a long time now so it's great to be able to start sharing what's going on with local people.
"These four events are the first in a series of events taking place throughout 2025 to celebrate everything our city has to offer. Whether you were born and raised here, moved away or only came to live here recently, our Centenary is for you and we'd love you to join in the celebrations."
