Stoke-on-Trent City Council is reviewing access arrangements on a Stoke-on-Trent road to improve traffic flow and reduce disruption when nearby roads are closed.

Sherborne Close, Newstead, is currently barricaded off to prevent it from being used as a through road.

The city council explained that following recent calls to reopen the road, they are now considering options to "improve traffic management during incidents or planned roadworks on Barlaston Road".

The council has suggested two options. The first option is removing the existing closure and permanently re-opening Sherborne Close to through-traffic.

The second option is to replace the existing closure with a lockable gate.

This would normally remain closed, maintaining the current arrangement but could be opened when essential, such as during closures of Barlaston Road, to allow a managed diversion route.

A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "Your views are important in helping us determine the most appropriate option for the area.

"We would welcome feedback from residents before any final decision is made."
