Plans have been approved for a new fast food outlet at Staffordshire's main hospital.
The Greggs shop will open near the main entrance at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
According to the application submitted by Sodexo, the outlet will improve services for patients and staff by delivering 'additional food options'.
Sodexo provides catering, retail and facilities management services at the Royal Stoke site under a PFI deal.
The application states: "The aim of the proposal is to provide a conveniently-located facility to help meet the daily needs of hospital staff, patients and visitors for hot and cold snacks, sandwiches and drinks.
"The proposal would offer a a specific food and drink range designed for healthcare settings, with an increased emphasis on healthier options."
The Greggs outlet will be situated on a site previously used as a staff rest area, a short distance from the main hospital entrance.
It will include internal tables and seating for up to 12 people along with a small external seating area, and its opening hours will be aligned to hospital shift patterns.
Planning officers at Stoke-on-Trent City Council approved the application under delegated powers, saying the scheme is acceptable in terms of design, amenity and highway safety.
