A Stoke-on-Trent cat sitting business has been crowned 'Midlands Region Cat Services of the Year 2026' at a recent awards ceremony.

Fantasipaws, founded and run by local cat lover Kim Rawlinson, received the regional title at the recent Animal Star Awards after just three years in business.

The award recognises businesses that demonstrate exceptional standards of animal care, professionalism and customer service.

"I was absolutely overwhelmed to win the Animal Star Award," said Kim.

"To have my dedication recognised means the world to me. Every cat I care for is treated as though they were my own, and this award belongs just as much to my wonderful clients who have trusted me with their beloved pets."

The accolade comes after Kim decided to leave office life behind to pursue her lifelong passion for cats in 2023.

She said: "I've shared my life with cats since I was nine years old.

"I wanted to create the sort of cat sitting service that I would want for my own pets – one that puts the welfare of every cat above everything else."

Kim explained that Fantasipaws - which has grown through word-of-mouth recommendations and online reviews - remains a deliberately small, owner-operated business, and she carries out every consultation and home visit personally.

"I believe continuity is incredibly important," she explained.

"Cats are creatures of habit, and many don't cope well with unfamiliar people. By remaining a one-person business, I can build genuine relationships with both the cats and their owners, learn each cat's unique personality and quickly recognise if something isn't quite right."

The local cat sitter has also invested in her professional development, gaining an Ofqual Level 3 Award in Feline Care, Behaviour and Welfare, as well as qualifications in Feline First Aid and Animal Psychology & Pet Behaviour. Additionally, she is undertaking training in subjects including senior cat care, behaviour, genetics and stress reduction.

Alongside cat sitting, Fantasipaws became a licensed cat breeder registered with Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council in 2025.

The business has achieved a four-star Animal Activities Licence – the highest rating available to a new licence holder.

As demand for Fantasipaws continues to grow, Kim says she has no plans to expand into a larger operation.

"My reputation has been built on personal service and exceptional care. I'd rather have a waiting list than compromise the standards that my clients and their cats deserve."
