Stoke-on-Trent business selling car cleaning products globally celebrates 20th birthday

A business based in Stoke-on-Trent selling car cleaning and detailing products all over the world is celebrating its 20th year in business.
Autobrite Direct was founded by Mark and Jill Moss in 2005 after Mark, from Burslem, gave up his job as a car valeter following a back injury - and car lovers now flock to their shop on Festival Way for the company's car cleaning products.
The husband and wife team began selling products from their bedroom but 20 years later in 2025 Autobrite employs 19 people in the city, offering training for car detailers and manufacturing products from their Festival Park site.
Car detailing is a meticulous process that goes beyond a regular car wash, focusing on deep cleaning, restoring, and protecting both the surfaces of a vehicle to achieve a showroom-quality finish - some spending days cleaning and polishing their cars to get it right.
Mark told Stoke Nub News: "I'm very proud of what we've achieved, our products are selling all over the world now.

"I used to be a mobile valeter and one day I pulled my back and was out of work and I thought I needed to do something different so I gave up the valeting and moved onto the products.
"I was using products at the time which were okay but wouldn't it be great if I could do something better than this.
"We started in the bedroom, bottling and labelling products, then we moved to the garage and then to several other units in the city and now here at Festival Park with a great team of people."
Autobrite has risen in popularity in recent years among seasoned car detailers, newbies and those who simply want to look after their beloved first car.
The business now manufactures 60% of its products from its site on Festival Way, which also hosts a dedicated car care shop.

Mark added: "We have been around for a long time and the car community now is a lot bigger now.
"There are new generations passing their test and buying their first cars and they're coming down to us because their car is their pride and joy so we're a big part of that now - we love clean cars.
"There's not a moment where me and Jill aren't talking about work but we live and breathe it, and we'll do everything we possibly can to make it better.
"The best part about us now is we actually manufacture products in Stoke-on-Trent.
"I wouldn't say it has been all playing sailing, running a business has its many, many downs and ups as well.
"Probably ten years ago we had a big surge and COVID was our best year in business to date and we're in a much bigger unit now on Festival Park.
"Obviously, times are tougher now with a lot of people squeezed on money and everyone watching what they spend but we're still here and things are getting better which is great."
