Off-road bike seized after boy rides on pavements with no licence or insurance

A teenager without a driving licence or insurance tried to make off from officers from Staffordshire Police after riding an off-road bike over pavements in Stoke-on-Trent.
The 16-year-old boy caught the attention of police when officers received reports he had been riding the motorbike on the pavement on Dividy Road in Bucknall on Wednesday morning (9 April).
When police arrived at the scene, he ditched the bike and ran away on foot but officers caught up with him and seized the off-road bike.
Staffordshire Police reported him for failing to stop, driving without due care and attention, driving other than in accordance with a driving licence and driving a motor vehicle without insurance.
Sgt Johnson, from our Stoke-on-Trent South local policing team, said: "We are committed to keeping the roads and members of the public safe in and around the city.
"We will continue to target these offenders and remove off-road bikes from our streets".
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A 16-year-old boy has been reported for numerous offences after proactive response officers seized an off-road bike being driven dangerously in Stoke-on-Trent.
"We were called to Dividy Road, Bucknall, at 10.30am on Wednesday (9 April) following reports of an off-road bike being driven on the pavement.
"Local officers attended the scene and a foot chase ensued after the boy abandoned the bike which was seized.
