A burglar in Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed after stealing bank cards and taking more than £1,000-worth of goods.
Steven Salt, 48, of Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to four-and-a-half-years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday 18 December after he admitted two counts of burglary, one count of theft, one count of handling stolen goods and seven counts of fraud by false representation.
Staffordshire Police explained that Salt broke into two homes and one car in Trentham on 27 May 2025.
He loaded carrier bags full of work tools and fishing equipment from one of the homes, valued at an estimated £1,100.
He also took a Carrera mountain bike from the other home and a coat from inside the car.
During the burglaries, he took bank cards belonging to the victims which he used at different shops on seven occasions.
Following an investigation into the burglaries, Staffordshire Police arrested Salt on 2 June 2025.
Officers found some of the stolen items in his room and returned them to the victims.
PC Jack Edwards, from our City Intervention Team, said: "Salt was brazen in his offending on this day and has rightfully been brought to justice for his crimes.
"We're working hard to stop burglary, theft and robbery across Staffordshire, and this is another example of that.
"By working proactively, we've reduced the number of burglaries, thefts and robberies in 2024, when compared to 2023.
"Burglary offences also reduced by 27 per cent in August this year, when compared to the year before."
