A planned new burger and pizza restaurant for Crewe has pulled out of opening in the town centre, with the property now to let.

Smash-on-Trent was set to launch at the former Topshop, Queensway, offering both eat-in and takeaway.

With locations in Burslem and Fenton, Smash-on-Trent planned to offer 'Barney's Detroit-Style Pizza' with ground floor and first floor customer seating and toilets.

Smash-on-Trent was also set to serve a variety of smash burgers and oven-baked foods such as pizza, and wedges, alongside desserts.

Despite commencing work in December 2025, this opening is now off, with the unit put up for rent once again, as seen on Mounsey Chartered Surveyors.

A description of the unit says: "12 Queensway, Crewe, comprises a substantial mid-terrace retail unit extending to approximately 4,724 sq ft arranged over ground and first floors.

"The commercial property is available to let and is presented with a shell finish, allowing an incoming occupier the flexibility to fit out the premises to suit their individual requirements.

"The open-plan layout provides an adaptable environment suitable for retail, showroom, trade counter, leisure or other commercial uses, subject to the necessary planning consents.

"The property would particularly suit retailers, showroom operators, trade counter businesses, leisure operators and other commercial occupiers seeking a substantial retail unit to let in Crewe.

"The flexible open-plan accommodation and glazed frontage provide an opportunity for businesses to create a bespoke customer-facing environment."

This news comes after growing burger and milkshake chain, Flame & Ice, recently launched on Market Street.
