Standstill traffic on M6 following crash as queues build on A500

Around 11am on Saturday 5 April, emergency services received reports of a collision on the M6 between Junction 16 and Junction 17 (Nub News).
Around 11am on Saturday 5 April, emergency services received reports of a collision on the M6 between Junction 16 and Junction 17 (Nub News).

Traffic is currently at a standstill on the M6 northbound between Junction 16 (Crewe) and Junction 17 (Sandbach/Congleton) following a collision.

Emergency services received reports of a collision on the motorway at around 11am on Saturday 5 April.

Motorists wanting to enter the M6 from Junction 16 at Barthomley were facing long delays.

Lane one of four remains closed and traffic is building on the A500 northbound from the junction for the A50/A500 through to the Porthill roundabout with extra traffic building as drivers leave the M6 at Junction 15. There is also traffic building on the A500 at Junction 16 for the M6.

National Highways: North-West said: "Traffic is stopped on the M6 in Cheshire northbound between J16 Crewe and J17 Sandbach due to a collision.

"Emergency services are in attendance.

"Long delays building, please allow extra time for your journey."

The incident has now cleared and all lanes are now reopen.

Nub News has contacted Cheshire Police for comment.
