"A moment in history to be treasured", was the view of two Staffordshire residents who witnessed the coronation first hand.

Ian Dudson CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, and Lianne Al-Khaldi BEM, of Stafford, were both present inside Westminster Abbey on Saturday.

Ian Dudson said, "It was a wonderful service and a huge honour to be there representing Staffordshire.

"No-one there could fail to recognise the significance of the event and it was very moving, particularly the very poignant singing of the national anthem at the end."

Lianne Al-Khaldi said it was an 'amazing experience' to witness the coronation first hand (Staffordshire County Council).

Speaking outside the Abbey immediately after the coronation, Lianne Al-Khaldi said, "What an amazing experience that was; everyone was so happy and it was such a moving ceremony.

"The King and Queen looked absolutely phenomenal, they looked amazing - and a lot smaller in real life than I thought, that close up."
