Retailer, Boyes, is set to open its latest store this week at the site of a former Stoke-on-Trent Wilko.

Signs have gone up outside the former Wilko in Longton announcing that the new store will open on Friday 11 September at 9am.

The discount homewares retailer – which has over 80 stores across the UK – sells a range of items including everyday essentials, electrical and DIY items and clothing.

Boyes previously put up posters outside the store advertising job vacancies, which stated: "Boyes was established in 1881 and we now have over 80 stores.

"We are still very much a family run business, with strong family values. With over 30,000 products, working for us can be an interesting and rewarding career."

The Wilko store in Longton closed in September 2023.

The new location comes after Boyes opened another Staffordshire store in Burton-on-Trent in May this year.

The store will be open on Monday to Friday from 9am to 5.30pm and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
