Local care home hosts festive Christmas lights switch-on event

Shoemaker Place, in Stone, hosted a festive Christmas lights switch-on event on Friday 29 November.

The event was attended by residents, their friends and relatives, Yarlet School Choir and the Stone Town Mayor and Mayoress.

Yarlet School Choir kicked off the festivities. performing a series of Christmas carols and classics which were enjoyed by all in attendance.

Guests were treated to homemade mince pies, jam tarts and mulled wine before the lights were switched on by the Stone Town Mayor.

The event was all in aid of Stone Community Hub, based on Lichfield Street, which is an independent charity dedicated to supporting residents in Stone and the surrounding villages.

Sharon Parkes, Customer Relationship Manager, said: "It was a wonderful event, it was the first time Shoemaker Place have hosted a Christmas light switch-on and it received such positive feedback from all residents, families, and visitors alike, it was a fabulous start to the festive period."
