Six social care colleagues at Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme are celebrating picking up accolades at the Great West Midlands Care Awards, with their passion, dedication and performance in their work recognised as the best in the region.
Those landing winners' trophies and high commendations from the panel of judges are:
- Jamie Rogers – The Dementia Carer Award (award winner)
- Hannah Barrington-Parry – The Social Care Nurse Award (award winner)
- Emma Palin – The Carer Innovator Award (award winner)
- Caroline Clifton – The Outstanding Contribution Award (highly commended)
- Steven Cartlich – The Ancillary Worker Award (highly commended)
- Lisa Armstrong – The 3 Rs Award (highly commended)
A further nine Belong colleagues received finalist nominations at the regional awards. The team supports residents and apartment tenants at the Lower Street dementia specialist care village to live as independently as possible whilst enjoying later life.
Belong chief operating officer, Sue Goldsmith, said: "We are thrilled to have six colleagues recognised for their work, as well as a record number of nominations for the Great West Midlands Care Awards – it is a massive achievement.
"Many of our team began their careers with us, starting out as support workers and then through training and mentorship, have progressed in seniority. We really are empowered with the autonomy to carry out our roles by putting people first and this enables us to provide the best possible care for our customers."
The annual Great West Midlands Care Awards acknowledge those working in the care sector throughout the UK, with winners from November's regional finals advancing to national awards in early 2025.
The news follows Belong's recent win the 2024 prestigious HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards, having taken the title for Best Health and Wellness Service for its holistic approach to care, breaking the mould of the 'traditional care home' by promoting an active lifestyle for customers.
