It feels like spring has sprung in Stoke-on-Trent and the city is buzzing with events and activities this weekend. 

Here are our top pics brought to you by Titanic Brewery and Six Towns Distillery.

Middleport Artisan Spring Market | Middleport Pottery | Sat 8 & Sun 9 March 

Join the local makers and bakers at this indoor artisan market for unique gifts and some tasty treats at Middleport Pottery. 

Entry and parking is free and the market will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. 

While you're at Middleport Pottery you can also enjoy the onsite café, artist studios, galleries, heritage tours and more.

Celebrate World Book Day at Stoke-on-Trent Libraries | Sat 8 March

On Saturday 8 March, the National Literacy Trust is inviting families to Libraries Out Loud – a day full of storytelling hosted at all six of the city's libraries to create a buzz around reading. In partnership with Stoke-on-Trent Libraries, storytellers will encourage the whole family to celebrate World Book Day together.

Families will be treated to performances, running 10:30-11:30am, from:

  • Dommy B at Stoke Library
  • Jenny Morgan at City Central Library
  • Kat Hughes at Bentilee Library
  • Alan Barrett at Meir Library
  • Julie Moss at Tunstall Library
  • Pyn Stockman at Longton Library

Each storyteller will bring stories to life and every child will choose a free book to take home and enjoy. These accessible, fun and free events aim to ensure that no child in the city is left out of the celebrations.

Stand Up Comedy Biddulph | Biddulph Town Hall | Sat 8 March 

Get ready to laugh your socks off on Saturday as Stand Up Comedy Biddulph is back, bringing a night of side-splitting entertainment to town that you won't want to miss.

Doors open at Biddulph Town Hall at 7.30pm and the show starts 8pm. Tickets are £10 + booking fee.

Three incredible comedians, award winning and from TV, hosted by our fantastic compere! Mark your calendars, grab your friends, and join us for a comedy extravaganza like no other!

The Toys Strike Back exhibition | The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery | 1 March until 1 June

A major exhibition showcasing one of the UK's largest collection of vintage Star Wars toys and collectables has arrived in Stoke-on-Trent.

The must-see display, which opens this weekend, features action figures and ships including the legendary Millennium Falcon. There will be mannequin displays including Darth Vader, Obi Wan Kenobi, Jedi master Yoda and infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett, as well as props including a rare Stormtrooper helmet and blaster from the first Star Wars film.

The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and between 11am and 4pm on Sundays.

Tickets for The Toys Strike Back are Adults £6, Concessions £4, Children £4, Under 5s free.

'Stratford Flyer' steam train passing through Stoke-on-Trent | Sat 8 March 

Train lovers may be able to catch a glimpse of the Black 5 locomotive No. 45212 'Stratford Flyer' as it steams through Stoke on the morning of Saturday 8 March. 

The train is currently scheduled to pass through Kidsgrove station at around 8:19am and Stoke-on-Trent station at around 8:28am before passing through Stone at 8:39am. 

On its return journey the train will pass through Stoke-on-Trent at 7:33pm and Kidsgrove at 7:41pm.
