Music & Words: An Evening of English Song | Stoke Minster | Fri 9 Oct
As part of Stoke Book Festival, City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra and vocalist Jordan Harding will be presenting an evening of English song at Stoke Minster on Friday 9 October
Stoke Book Festival said: "Enjoy a stunning performance by the City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra and vocalist Jordan Harding.
"They will take you on a musical journey through English song and stories linked to famous authors, poets, and composers, including some new discoveries.
"The concert begins at 7 pm, but arrive by 6:15 pm for a pre-concert talk with Artistic Director Joe Hearson, who will introduce the evening and discuss the music's inspiration from poems and words."
Tickets cost £10 and are available to book online.
Stoke Book Festival: Ben Aitken | Stoke Minster | Sat 10 Oct
As part of Stoke Book Festival, Ben Aitken will be fiving a talk about his book, Sh*tty Breaks: A Celebration of Unsung Cities.
The event will take place at Stoke Minster on Saturday 10 October from 3pm to 4pm.
Stoke Book Festival said: "Hailing from Portsmouth, Ben knew from experience that unfashionable places could be quietly brilliant.
"So, over the course of a year, the author visited twelve of the least popular spots in the UK and Ireland for a city break.
"The motivation wasn't to take the mickey or stick the boot in, but to seek out the good stuff.
"By doing so, he hoped to demonstrate that anywhere - like anyone - can be interesting and nourishing and enjoyable if approached in the right fashion. Even Wolverhampton!"

Harvest Market | Longton Exchange Shopping Centre | Sat 10 Oct
The Longton Artisan & Cultural Fair will be hosting a harvest market at the Longton Exchange Shopping Centre on Saturday 10 October from 10am to 4pm.
The organisers said: "It's the perfect opportunity to browse, shop local, discover something different and start embracing those cosy autumn vibes.
"And let's be honest… one pumpkin-spiced treat doesn't count as a bad decision if you're supporting a small business.
"Whether you're coming for the shopping, the treats, the atmosphere or simply because you need an excuse to get out for a wander — we'd love to see you!"

Stoke Book Festival: AJ West | Stoke Minster | Stoke | Sat 3 Oct
As part of Stoke Book Festival, AJ West will giving a talk about his latest novel, The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald.
The closing author event of the festival will take place from 6pm to 7pm on Saturday 10 October.
Stoke Book Festival said: "Stoke Book Festival is excited to announce AJ West as the closing author of our festival.
"AJ will be in conversation, celebrating the latest launch of his novel, 'The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald', scheduled for release in October 2026 and promises a dark, atmospheric historical mystery."

Children and Baby's Table Top Sale | Werrington Village Hall | Sun 11 Oct
A Children and Baby's Table Top Sale will be taking place at Werrington Village Hall on Sunday 11 October, to raise funds for the Alice Charity.
The event will take place from 10am to 12.30pm.
Vellichor Books said: "A range of Preloved and new stalls! All baby, kids, teenager items - books, clothes, toys, accessories and more. Plus cake from Sugar Dough."
World of Wedgwood Artisan Market | Barlaston | Sun 11 Oct
The World of Wedgwood Artisan Market will return on Sunday 11 October from 10am to 4pm.
The market will showcase street food, handmade gifts, ceramics and homewares.
The organisers said: "October is here, autumn is settling in and we can't think of many better ways to spend a Sunday than a leisurely wander around the World of Wedgwood Artisan Market.
"On Sunday 11th October, we'll be back in beautiful Barlaston with another fantastic collection of independent makers, bakers, artists, creators and producers. "
Entry is free and there is free parking available.
