Six arrested after Port Vale and Crewe fans clash

Cheshire Police has confirmed it made six arrests following disorder between Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale fans in the 'A500 derby' EFL League Two clash.

On Saturday 29 March, Crewe lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale, with Jayden Stockley's 86th-minute winner sparking unsavoury scenes between rival fans at Mornflake Stadium.

Police measures for the 12.30pm kick off included increased patrols, mounted officers, the closing of surrounding pubs by 2pm and an all-day closure of Gresty Road.

Cheshire Police make six arrests in the Crewe versus Port Vale derby, including one for assault, two for pitch incursion, one for public order, one for possession of a controlled drug and one for being drunk and disorderly (Ryan Parker).

Measures also included a dispersal order between Crewe town centre and Gresty Road from 8am to 6pm. This allowed officers to ban anyone from the town for up to 48 hours.

Despite this, one fan was arrested for assault, two were arrested for invading the pitch and one was arrested for public order.

Another was arrested for possession of a controlled drug and one was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "There were six arrests in total.

"These included two arrests for pitch Incursion, one for being drunk and disorderly, one for public order, one for possession of a controlled drug and arrest one for assault."
