A classic silent film is set to be brought to life with a live musical performance in Stoke-on-Trent next month.

Restoke is celebrating the city's centenary at Fenton Town Hall this November with a screening of the 1925 film The Phantom of the Opera featuring live musical accompaniment.

On Sunday 2 November, The Ballroom at Fenton Town Hall will be showing the 100-year-old silent film alongside a live score from the acclaimed quartet Minima.

Minima's Gregory Hall said: "The Ballroom is a fantastic venue and the perfect setting for The Phantom of the Opera.

"Fenton Town Hall and Restoke make and programme fantastic work, and we're delighted to be part of it."

Minima is a quartet celebrated for their modern live scores for silent films and have previously performed at BFI Southbank, Glastonbury Festival and the Barbican Centre.

The music will provide an immersive soundscape to accompany the gothic classic which displays the magic of early cinema with tinted scenes and a rare Technicolor segment.

The event will take place at 7pm on Sunday 2nd November with tickets priced at £9, or £5 for low income or Fenton residents.
