Pub worker promises 'entertaining night' in Stoke fight against cancer

A passionate pub worker has promised an "entertaining night" for a 'big' upcoming charity fight against cancer - taking place this summer.
Daniel Albin, who works at The Imperial, in Crewe, will be taking part in Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) for Cancer Research UK on Friday 14 July.
The 25-year-old will be taking part in the large charity event at Fenton Manor Sports Complex, City Road, Fenton - with doors opening at 6:30pm.
"We are expecting about 2,500 people at the venue with 1,000 tickets still to be sold," said Mr Albin.
Launching in 2013, UWCB is a unique opportunity for people with no boxing background to experience boxing, in a safe and enjoyable environment.
The event is about about raising money for Cancer Research UK and helping to get all participants in good physical shape.
Mr Albin told Nub News: "Cancer has unfortunately deeply affected my family.
"Three years ago, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Quite recently, my dad had to have his kidney removed for cancer and my aunty has just been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"My grandad on my dad's side and my uncle on his side have both died from lung cancer working in the mines.
"Cancer Research have done amazing this year. My dad was in and out of hospital within six weeks and my aunty is going in to have her breasts removed soon.
"I am raising money for them. I am doing this to get the word of Cancer Research out there - its going to be a good night."
The Staffordshire-born man found out out the UWCB event Facebook - signing up on the same day.
Mr Albin said: "I am training for the event every Tuesday and Thursday and doing a fighting class every Sunday.
"This is all brand new to me. I am bit nervous, but I have all the instructors behind me to help along the way.
"They are pushing me every step of the way - hopefully on fight night it will be a good outcome."
"People are fighting against cancer, so the only way I can match that is by fighting for cancer."
Across the past decade, UWCB has raised over £2,000,000 for Cancer Research.
Mr Albin says he is excited to contribute to this tally - as well as making his family, friends, Imperial colleagues and customers proud.
The Crewe pub worker added: "The best thing about this job is keeping the venue safe and having a laugh with people.
"If anyone would like to donate they can do so online via JustGiving or by putting money into a pot at The Imperial bar.
"This is going to be an entertaining night. There will be many around 15 fights throughout the evening.
"It is a big event run every six months and always done for Cancer Research. In the first week of training all fighters raised a total of £1,000. Please donate if you can."
