Potters 'Arf 2026: Road closures in Stoke-on-Trent

The Potters 'Arf is set to return this weekend with hundreds of Stokies due undertake the 13.1 mile route.

The walking race will start at 8:30am on Sunday 4 October with the main run starting at 9.30am alongside the Sir Stanley Matthews statue on Upper Market Square in Hanley.

The first road closures will begin as early as 5am and will last until as late as 4pm, but most will close at 8.30am before reopening between 10.15am and 1pm.

A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "Please be aware that a number of road closures will be in place across Stoke-on-Trent to ensure a safe race for all on Sunday 4 October.

"Closures will be in place from 5am on Sunday 4 October. We anticipate all roads reopening early afternoon and when safe to do so.

"If you're travelling around the city, please plan your journey accordingly and allow for extra time."

The approximate times for Potters 'Arf road closures - 4 October 2026

Tontine Street, Percy Road, Parliament Row, Upper Market Square will close at 5am and reopen at 4pm.
Huntbach Street, Town Road will close at 5am and reopen at 4pm.
Lichfield Street, Victoria Road will close at 8.30am and reopen at 10:15am.
King Street will close at 8.30am and reopen at 10.30am.
Anchor Road, Dividy Road will close at 8.30am and reopen at 10:45am.
Ubberley Road, Beverley Drive, Malthouse Road, Maychurch Road will close at 8.30am and reopen at 11:30am
Fellbrook Lane, Abbey Lane, Abbey Road, Baddeley Green Lane, Leek Road will close at 8.30am and reopen at 11:45am.
Leek New Road, Leonard Avenue will close at 8.30am and reopen at 12:15pm.
Berwick Road, Milton Road, Sneyd Street will close at 8.30am and reopen at 12.30pm.
Town Road, Union Street, Stafford Street will close at 8.30am and reopen at 1:00pm.

On Sunday the walk and walk relay are due to start at 8:30am, the Potters 'arf Marathon at 9.30am followed by the Potters Fun Run at 9.45am.
