A popular supermarket chain has opened brand-new self-service checkouts in one of its Stoke-on-Trent stores.

Aldi, on Meir Park, now has eight checkouts where customers can scan their own shopping instead of waiting for an available cashier.

Staff told Stoke Nub News that since they were installed on Sunday 11 June, the new checkouts have been incredibly popular with shoppers.

Aldi first began installing self-service checkouts in their stores back in 2019 (Nub News).

An Aldi spokesperson said: "Following positive feedback, we are introducing self-checkouts across the county to further improve customer experience.

"Checkouts manned by our amazing colleagues will still be available for customers who prefer to use these."
