A popular pub in Stoke-on-Trent has now closed for refurbishment, costing £1.4 million.

The Reginald Mitchell, in Hanley, closed on 21 October and is expected to reopen on 27 November.

JD Wetherspoon is undertaking work to the building, to repair the roof and to include new step-free access and a full internal redecoration.

This is as well as creating new staff facilities, staff room and changing rooms.

The pub is expected to reopen on 27 November (Nub News).

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "The investment highlights the company's commitment to Hanley, to its staff and to its customers.

"The pub plays an important part in the town's social scene and we trust that it will continue to do so for many more years to come."
