Two police officers who were spotted 'asleep' in a car in Stoke-on-Trent have been told to reflect on their actions.

Staffordshire Police said it was reviewing a video which surfaced online in February, appearing to show two officers slumped asleep in a car with the engine 'still running'.

The vehicle was spotted and filmed in Fenton at 3am on February 10 with the video appearing to show the vehicle stationary with the lights and dashboard illuminated near the junction of a roundabout.

The caption of the video read: "Sat at a junction in Fenton KFC,, asleep behind the wheel".

Now the force has released a statement after Staffordshire Police's professional standards department carried out a review into the circumstances of the incident.

A spokesperson said: "Our professional standards department (PSD) has carried out a review into the circumstances surrounding a video involving two police officers inside a car in the early hours in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, on February 10.

"We've spoken to the officers at length to fully understand all of the context behind the video. The matter is being dealt with through a reflective practice review process."
