Staffordshire Police are appealing for information following a burglary at a shop in Stoke-on-Trent.
At 4.05am this morning (14 July), officers were called to Tesco Express on Hartshill Road after an intruder alarm was activated.
The suspect, a man, took a quantity of cash from inside the shop before leaving the area.
As a result, the shop remains closed today whilst officers investigate the scene, review CCTV and complete their enquiries.
In a separate incident which took place this morning, police were also called to Sainsbury's on London Road, shortly before 4.40am, following reports of a man who had forced entry through a window.
Officers went to the scene and arrested a 33-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal.
The store remains closed to the public today and the man remains in custody at this time.
At this stage, police do not believe the incidents to be linked.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information - call 101, quoting incident 103 of 14 July (Tesco) or 110 of 14 July (Sainsburys), or report it via the website.
